Path To Prosperity (Part One)

Read : Matthew 6:25-33 Path To Prosperity (Part One): Seek God First   I have been told since I was attending Sunday school in my white patent leather shoes and blonde curls that I should always put God first. To a child that seemed very easy. I was to love God more than anything, even more than my horse and mac and cheese. Which I loved a lot. I would pray every morning and pray every night. Simple, right? Now fast forward 20+ years and putting God first became a much harder task. With work, deadlines, housekeeping, family, friends and just things in life I had to do to survive, I pushed God back. I didn’t push him all the way down to the bottom of the list but he lived right in the middle somewhere among grocery shopping and hair cut appointments. You know, the “I’ll get to it when I can things”. I still loved God but he wasn’t my priority. I was running behind life trying to catch it and hold on, when all I had to do was just stop running altogether, hit my knees and ...

Pray With Me

  “I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them." Matthew 18:19-20 Living in the south, it is customary and usually expected that someone prays for you. Feeling a little under the weather? Oh honey I’ll be praying for you. Have a job interview or a big test? Oh honey I’ll pray for you. Your husband is cheating on you with that floozy down the street who’s half your age and is tackier than Uncle Jim’s Christmas sweater? Oh Honey, I’ll be praying for you. Although it is a nice sentiment and a comforting phrase, we are doing each other an injustice by just praying for each other.
