Be Salty
Matthew 5:13 reads “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt
loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for
anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
Which, got me to thinking, (scary I know). How can I be like salt? Besides being pale white, I just couldn’t see any similarities between salt and me. How can I be like the salt of the earth and not lose my flavor? I don’t even understand salt itself! When my husband and I were first married, he always asked me to add more salt to ANYTHING I cooked. I was notorious for cooking enough spaghetti to feed an army and for not adding enough salt. Having attended culinary school and worked in the restaurant biz, my husband knew the role salt played in foods and he taught me it’s value, which took our food from being just good to great (if I do say so myself).
I can look at salt and its uses and directly relate it to being a
Christian in the kitchen of life (which can get pretty hot). As usual the more
we know somethings true purpose, the more we understand it’s value! Find your
true purpose through prayer and unlock your value, which I can assure you will
take your life from good to great!
Salt
Causes Things To Rise To The Top
Salt plays a huge role in how bread rises. It tightens the gluten
structure and adds strength to the dough. We as Christians should always strive
to strengthen and help each other rise up as warriors in Christ. Help people to
tighten their armor so that faith will rise in power and strength. Be that
extra ingredient that has been missing in their recipe of life. Let's help each other rise to our full potentials and become the people God created us to be.
Salt Brings
Out The Goodness
Salt brings out the natural flavors in food. I did not know this
until my husband told me so. Having attended culinary school and being in the
restaurant biz, he knew the role salt played in food. Salt will make sweet
foods sweeter and it will cancel out the bitterness in fruits in vegetables.
Salt works alongside the flavor profiles that naturally occur in food to bring
out the very best ones. We should all
strive to bring out the best in each other every single day. Stop and think
before we speak. Will this bring out the best in someone or will this just cause
them to be bitter? Our job as Christians is not to enhance bitterness and
strife but to minimize it. We are called to shine a light on the good qualities
of other human beings. We are called to help each other to find the joy during
the sadness, the peace during the storm and the love during the loss. We need
to be the salt in their attitude and situation to bring out their natural best
that may be hiding down deep and just needs a little sprinkle of love to bring
it out.
A Little
Salt Can Go A Long Way
Salt is unassuming, void of bright colors and is quite small, but
boy can it pack a punch. A little bit will go a long way. I think we should
take a cue from salt. Though boldness and brashness is required at times, I think
most people are just needing a steady hand, a quiet voice and a reliable ear.
Don’t force your opinions on each other but support, pray for and love each
other. Sprinkle the love of the father on the ones around you. Some people need
more than others and some people need less. Use the recipe book God provided
and use as directed.
Very very good! Love the comparison! All people usually need is a little of Gods love!
